Environmental Aspects of Cold Drinks Cups

The disposable clear cups are made from a bio-plastic called polylactic acid (PLA), which is derived from plants - a renewable resource.

PLA is 100% compostable and biodegradable. So the cups can be sent to a commercial composting facility with your food waste. There, the cups will biodegrade into compost within 12 weeks.

PLA is suitable for temperatures ranging from -20 to +40°c. So the clear bio-plastic cup is great for cold drinks, smoothies and milkshakes.

Food packaging - made from plants and 100% compostable

  • Made from plants that re-grow – uses renewable resources such as sugar cane and corn. Conventional packaging materials are made from oil, a finite resource.

  • 100% compostable and biodegradable – EN 13432 standard or tested by WRAP, the packaging is independently certified for compostability. Meaning it can be collected with food waste and, within 12 weeks in a composting facility, will biodegrade into compost – ready to be used on soil to grow more plants, in a closed loop model.

  • Low carbon footprint thanks to its carbon-absorbing plant beginnings. Meaning it’s carbon-neutral even if incinerated. Diverting food and packaging waste from landfill also avoids methane emissions.

  • Packaging that’s too contaminated with food cannot be recycled so compostable packaging offers a great alternative.

By offering a clear and eco-friendly choice when it comes to disposal - compost or recycle - we hope to help your business say no to landfill, yes to zero waste!
